Unstuck (a year later)
Friday, April 16, 2010 at 5:19PM
Ahhh - it seems like just last year I watched the little orange Kubota sink into the muddy spring field (oh wait it was just last year - /2009/04/sinking-feeling-part-1.html). Being a nostalgic fellow, I figured, why not again... Especially considering the date on the last post as well... I mean - what's 365 days later anyhow between friends?
Why not put the disk on and scrape up the pasture where the chickens go so I can overseed with two kinds of clover (red and white), alfalfa and field peas... why not!? I mean - it would be silly to think there was no lesson learned last time right? And this is a different, all together wetter pasture section than last Spring. Sure - GO!
Tractors helping tractors
Good thing we have Big Blue to come to the rescue this time... (notice the tire size difference) As always the sinking was swift, unexpected and immediately hopeless. Nothing to do but watch the mud ooze up over the tires. The big difference this time is I didn't need to get the truck stuck. Didn't need to get muddy placing boards and stones under the tires - as a matter of fact I didn't even break a sweat this time. Just off to the barn, get Big Blue and 5 minutes later - I was back to tempting fate with the Kubota, the disk, and a very wet pasture...
Free at last!
Maybe this picture doesn't show it very well... but - I was epically stuck. All for the sake of providing our summer chicken flocks with the very best forage I can. Nobody every said good food was easy.
