The farm is moving...
Monday, August 10, 2009 at 12:00PM
That's why things have been so quiet here - we are moving!
Well - the farm isn't moving... just the name.
With the first year of sales behind us, we decided it was the right time to select a name that reflects the long term intent of our farm. SO - over the next few weeks Chicken Thistle Farm will cease to exist and we will assume operations under our new name Chicken Thistle Farm.
The "move and change" is not done yet - but it's far enough along that we wanted to share the exciting news with you and prepare you for changes coming to the web site.
We also wanted to explain the origin of the name to you.
The chicken in the new name represents the mainstay of our farm, now and into the future - we will always have chickens, and layers of farm fresh eggs are arriving in the spring too! So regardless of what direction we take as the farm evolves - there will be chickens!
The thistle represents the weeds and discarded fallow farm land that we are reclaiming and turning into usable land that nourishes us all. The thistle in particular (of which we have many) has a massive root system that is known for pulling minerals up from deep within the earth - so in sustainable terms - it's a GREAT plant!
So THAT'S why we have been a little quite on the web as of late... and the move isn't done yet... but we just couldn't wait any longer to share.
