Baby building on Mothers Day
Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 6:15AM
I mentioned the challenges in construction of the leanto had been compound by the fact a Robin decided that a bunch of the junk leaning up on the side of the barn made a nice place for her to start a family... well - things have developed over the last several days. As the pictures show we have gone from egg to hatchlings. Which is going to make the digging of the post holes easier from the perspective of mom won't need to sit on the eggs... But putting up rafters will be more challenging with these 4 little guys and their wide open eyes watching my every move.

Yours are ahead of ours - we have two robin's nests (both in trees, thank you) that still have unhatched eggs. So did you have to move the nest at all?
This nest is in a really strange place - it's up against the side of the barn in a pile of junk (which I'd love to move for building) but can't now... so I will be very careful and work around it. The mom has gotten pretty comfortable with me - I can get about 5' from her before she flies off now. The other nest still has eggs - but that's a long ways away from the construction.
