The view sure is nice from up in a tree on a cool fall evening as the sun starts to set. It just seemed fitting to take a picture and share it. The story is a good one but rather simple. I was fortunate enough to harvest another deer off our land during bow season last Saturday (2007, 2008). It was an amazingly accurate shot at 20 yards - the arrow went right through the heart (that's not bragging, that's me proud of a clean kill).I'd also share a picture of the buck - but he has already been off to the butcher and now resides in our freezer.
He was a nice 6 well 3 point deer. His left antler snapped off at the base rather recently so he only had one side left. Likely, based on his apparent age he has been fighting other deer for breeding rights and got in over his head with someone bigger than him. Now, the savvy reader might ask why do I think the antler was lost to another deer in a fight and not some other way.
Well there's a couple of reasons - one, his fur on his head and neck clearly showed signs he had been fighting with other deer. He was very gray and his teeth were really worn too - indicating he was an older deer... which usually means he has some sort of established territory. Finally, the most interesting thing about this buck was the fact he had worn off all the fur on his inner thighs... Now, if you don't understand why that's significant, I might suggest you watch a few more specials about animal reproductive behavior.

Gee. I guess the only way it could have been better for him is if you caught him in the act.
I don't know if I could shoot a deer in the middle of THAT!
Kinky!
little too S&M for me...
