Inauguration Day - Utila, Honduras

Yesterday was a historic day for our country – more so than simply a milestone for race… but on a global scale that I think has been missed by many. Regardless of political affiliation, world circumstance, or personal opinion – it’s pretty much a given that America’s international relations have undergone a widespread perception of decline over the last several years. While the reasons may be varied – it’s happened.
What’s interesting about our new president, to me, is the fact that internationally – and by MASSIVE margins – he’s the guy that the world would have picked to lead our nation. Which, from a very egotistical American viewpoint it’s easy to say “I could care less who they want to run our country”… but the world is a lot smaller place than it used to be and I think days of thinking like that are nostalgic throwbacks of a bygone era.
Even in Utila – a small island in the Bay of Honduras – in the only coffee shop on the island – we snapped this picture 2 days before his inauguration. Even from a small spec of land far from the busy streets of your town and mine (unless you are in Utila and reading this) there is a hushed hope that perhaps, somehow, this one individual can galvanize the desires of the greatest nation on the planet, to renew America’s prosperity – thereby renewing the worlds.
