Are you shucking kidding me?!

I feel I need to get this shucking thing off my chest...
You know - this "new" trend (over the last several years) people have when they buy corn on the cob - then they all stand around and shuck it... right there in the store. Sometimes in these suburban farmers markets there is a shucking frenzy! All these soccer/hockey moms shucking away - one right after another - throwing husk and tassel too and fro. Leaving a huge shucking mess behind... it's despicable. Besides, I don't understand what the big shucking deal is - I mean - when I was a kid I remember buying corn on the cob at the local produce stand and my parents never shucked in public. Sometimes they would take a little peek at the corn under the husk - looking for full plump kernels - but never full out shucking. Now days, even the small roadside stands have the box / barrel / or other facility available for people to just pull over, select their ears, put some money in a jar and start shucking- right there! All this inappropriate shucking!
This just seems shucking ridiculous to me - are people afraid to shuck in their own homes? Or is it people would rather shuck outside of the home leave the mess for someone else to deal with?
We grow our own corn - so we just watch this phenomenon from afar. We have no issue with shucking in the home... certainly - sometimes - we do shuck on the deck or even in the yard (it's sometimes just easier). And on those rare occasions where we buy corn - we still shuck at home. The corn just stays fresher - longer - if you don't just grab and start shucking right away. Patience is rewarded for those who wait to shuck.
So there you have it - the shucking truth.
