How does your garden grow?

Time for the July update on the state of our garden endeavors... So far - it looks like the soil here is happy to produce any of the produce we could ask for.
  • Our zukes are starting to flower - so the avalanche is going to be upon us before long...
  • Cukes are still climbing - I'm betting another couple of weeks before they start producing.
  • Peas are in full swing - maybe a little on the down slope now - mmm - sugar snap peas!
  • Lots of round green tomatoes across all the plants from the small cherries to the heirlooms to the orange jobbies to the old Big Boy standards... we are gonna be seeing red when these break free. Kelli is already planning on doing a lid check so we have no excuses when canning needs to be in full swing.
  • Onions are growing great - as are the leeks
  • Garlic is starting to look like it's ready to come out soon...
  • The pepper plants are all starting to produce these little peppers!
  • Eggplants are doing OK
  • The summer squash section in the garden is doing very well.
  • The cabbage family of plants are all still chugging along - broccoli being the ones that look like they are about done with their production... I'll have to plant some more seeds in the next couple weeks to get them in for a fall harvest too.
  • Potatoes are in blossom - which means I can start rooting around under a few select plants for some early spuds!

The asparagus patch here is also very happy - mulched with the wood shavings from the chicken brooder... very high nitrogen there!
From the "Berry Patch"
Over all - things are growing nicely. The blueberries plants are happy - or so they appear to be. I need to throw some more organic soil acidifier on the blueberries in the next month or so... to ensure they are happy! The strawberries and raspberries and gooseberries are all happy too.
