Garden under-siege

I'm actually a little annoyed tonight... we survived the "tornado" yesterday that multiple witnesses have described the same as me but the National Weather Service refuses to call it a tornado (the conspiracy theory people tell me that's because they are so rare here - that nobody carries tornado insurance - so this is really a way to help people out)...

sounds a little far fetched to me - but what do I know - I'd rather be truthful and be done.
Unbeknownst to me - yesterday as the wind ravaged the house - Kelli snapped a few pictures of our "most excellent" roofing materials - not to share but so "I knew what to fix" - nice of her... might as well get double duty on the images.

Anyhow - my annoyance comes from the second of the 1 - 2 punch the weather threw at us. Today we had another blast of wind - some serious hail - and most devastating 0.8" of rain in less than 15 minutes.
Kelli was home as the power went out and snapped this image of the deck.
The corn was flat over on its side this time - so were the potatoes - and several tomatoes sustained breakage... ohh - all the pepper plants were laying right flat on the ground...
I just can't seem to catch a break...
Well - I guess it's not all bad - we picked a ton of green beans tonight.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your crops! At least you guys are ok and the damage was minimal, but I know how frustrating that is to have your garden (and home!) torn apart! I had all my tomatoes blown over maybe 3 or 4 yrs ago out in the rental plot. Brett had to help me get them all back upright, but if I remember right things were ok and they did live and produce tomatoes that were just as tasty as any other year.

How did your squash plants do?

jeph - we are ok - although another large one is staking us on radar as I type...
Squash plants are ok - ish...
Mostly - time will tell how many things have leaf damage which is nothing vs. how many thing have broken stems.
