Fruit(s) of labor

While others are posting about potential food shortages and rationing - I was outside right after a passing rain shower (that didn't rain on me) looking at what's happening out amongst the plantings thus far.
Upon seeing this lone shoot poking up from my asparagus patch I ran back to the house and grabbed the camera... it honestly took all my self control to not have Kelli start some water steaming and get out the lemon wedge and the butter... Of course - this little early starter is all of 3" tall and maybe (being generous here) with the camera adding 5 pounds... he might be 1/4" in diameter.
Little thing would go back down in the soil if he knew how much I wanted to chop him off and pop him in my mouth! Of course - if I did that - Kelli would fight me since her love of fresh asparagus is right on par with my own!
Next year my pretty... I'll get you then... and your little dog too!

You might just have too many veggies and other foliage going on :)

Darn weather isn't going to cooperate with my though - really was hoping to get the taters, carrots, spinach and some others in this weekend.
