Spring is coming...
Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 9:01PM
Boy - we have gotten far behind in our posting in just a couple of days... With the suns rays starting to gently warm the earth (note I said gently Mr. Gore) it appears as if the snows between now and planting time are likely to be light and short lived - although this area of the country did receive almost 12" of the stuff on Mothers Day back in 1996 - so - let's not get the corn in the ground just yet!
However - the earth has thawed enough that driving the tractor around the barn to get a load of still frozen stone (should have checked first) leaves nice ruts! And since the pile of stone is more ice than stone - it also leaves us with some monster sized holes in the driveway... no biggie - time heals all wounds - right?
Ohh - and the birds are starting to sing in the morning - again leading me to believe spring is about sprung. We even have some cool sightings in the bird world to report:

That is a Kestrel Falcon - sitting on the house of a very unhappy sparrow - well - the sparrow was "thinking" about the house... now - I think he thinks he thought wrong...

With a predator like that sitting on the house, do you worry no one will feel safe nesting in it?
Nahh - this guy is just passing through... all the houses were populated last year when we moved in - with Bluebirds... hence the name we picked.
