Fresh bugers - chilled

We took this picture the other night when we couldn't take it anymore and needed to have a real - fresh - grilled burger... but it was rather cold (that's the 21F in the picture) and VERY windy. So - we were attempting to prove, from the warmth of the house between burger flips - that we were in fact using the grill. The problem is - the wind was so strong - you can't see the smoke!
Anyhow - the burgers landed on some grill up sourdough slices - and minus the fresh from the garden lettuce and tomato - they were EXCELLENT! Ohh - and one other great thing in this picture - it's 5:30 - and still light out! Winter is drawing to a close!

That's funny - I've been craving some home-grilled burger (with still-hot-from-the-sun tomato slices!) lately, but haven't caved yet. Not sure why - I've been grilling chicken, pork, bbq chicken pizza, etc out in the cold - and daaaamn is it a pain when you have a hard time getting the grill to light because of the wind, or there's no where convenient to put spatula or tongs, cutting board, etc because everything's covered in snow and ice. (Not to mention shoes on, shoes off, shoes on, shoes off, shoes on...etc)

Mmmm...thanks for the influence - we might be having burgers some night this week! ;-)

NO problem on the "influence" front... they really were tasty... then the two extra we made ended up in homemade calzones... which had dough that started from a pollish and then sat overnight in the fridge... OMG good - WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
