Dad's 71st Birthday
Sunday, July 22, 2007 at 9:04PM
Sunday we celebrated dad's birthday... Even though it really happens Monday... Anyhow - Kelli and I started the day by finishing up the front garden tear out and regarding - got it seeded, starter fertilizer down and straw to keep it damp... all before 10am! We are expecting some good grass cover in a couple of weeks - as we will keep watering it nightly with our $3 Wal-Mart sprinkler... which is actually quite awesome.
We started his birthday with some Coconut-Chipotle Abodo Shrimp on the grill, then some little neck clams on the grill with garlic, butter and lemon dripped inside them when they opened up... Very yummy... Lunch also had dessert... a scoop of Breyer's Vanilla Bean covered in my own homemade raspberry sauce and a dot of dark chocolate syrup. (no pictures as it all got scarfed down too fast)
And - the folks came up in vintage style... their new to them 1940 Buick Super... which they took us out and about on down through Palmyra and the surrounding countryside. It's hard not to smile when you are tooling around in a classic car like this one!
For dad's birthday dinner - at his request - not because we have something in with the pig lobby - we made Grilled Jerk Pork with Curried Peach Relish and Curried Rice, Bacon and Cabbage Pilaf. Of course there was a very well appointed side salad too... Dessert was my moms famous Cream Puffs (nothin better in the world)...

The food all looks and sounds great and, wow, what a beautiful house!!! I hadn't seen pics before, but with all the "farm" talk I'd expected it to look a little more rustic. NICE!
When we were looking - Kelli agreed to property as long as the house was nice too - I think it was actually something like - "If we are going to buy land - I need a nice house - because I don't want to sit inside a cr@ppy house and watch you outside playing on your tractor"... Or something close to that.
Ohh - Thank You!
