With Spring comes new life. And this year Kelli discovered that the fox we watched in the field all winter were apparently 2 foxes – of opposite sexes… and they did the thing mammals do in the spring to continue the species on… procreation. Aside from the miracle of life here – the friggin cubs are just so darn cute!
On a walk around the field, Kelli noticed some small furry animals playing and when she approached – they ran for the cover of their den located in the side of a large berm. But, like most baby animals – they are not content to sit inside and not do anything… so they quickly emerged from the den to check out the new sites to be seen, us.

We have kept an eye on them over the last few weeks – and they recently ventured as a family (mom and 4 cubs) into the edge of our yard for what looked like hunting training. Kelli thinks they are really cute – I think they look like cute chicken eating machines… Time will tell how “friendly” they really are – although last year there were some signs that predators were interested in the pasture chicken pen and we kept them out.
Regardless of how this plays out this summer – they are cute now, there’s no denying that.

OMG those are adorable! SERIOUSLY cute!!! You need to get video of these little critters!
So do you worry about Watson’s safety? I’m guessing foxes won’t take on dogs…
And I wonder if they’ll dig up stuff in your garden?
The DSLR Canon took these shots – no video on that one… Watson barks at them – they run away… that’s about it. In reality Border Terriers were bread to ride on the back of an English horse and when the hounds sent the fox to den – the BT was let off to flush the fox out of the den… that’s why they have long legs – because after the fox took off, the hunt resumed, and the little BT was left to run after everyone!
As for the garden or the chickens – they get 1 shot fired over their bow…
yup, definitely!
But they are cute…
