Lumber storage system

As some previous posts have eluded to – we are rapidly approaching the middle of March trip tat will see new counters in our kitchen (Corian and Zodiac). But part of the pre-work that’s going on is Kelli is actively painting the guest bathroom (can’t have our pregnant friend in a undecorated bathroom – what would the baby think?!)… and I have been working to ensure the barn is settled enough that Rob and I have the space to fabricate the new counters…
To that end – although I had made great strides with the barn and it’s organization over the last 8 months of ownership (from dirt floor and open walls to slab, wired, and 50% of the walls insulated and covered) there is always more to do. A major challenge has been navigating the piles of wood working lumber that came with us when we moved. (disclaimer – I am NOT a lumberjack – just a woodworker)
Well – no time like the present – so here is a system I built for storing lumber that leverages the heavy posts that form the main structure of the pole barn – some simple 3/4″ plywood brackets I made – and a little ingenuity. Works great – and since it’s open from the front – getting at the wood is a snap.
After this was proudly constructed, I filled it with the pile of lumber of the floor… only to see that there was a mess of plywood sheet goods left… But that’s another story…
