Last weekend was a “work weekend” at the farm… Kelli, her mom and my mom cleaned up the flower beds around the house and got a couple shrubs in the ground. It looks really great… in the process they uncovered a healthy looking lavender that was buried amongst the weeds. The plans are to complete the plantings next spring and mulch the rest.
I had help from my father-in-law, my dad and my uncle. We attacked the barn that seems to go slower and slower with every step of progress. We got the entire back wall and one section on a side wall covered with OSB… which is on top of the insulation I put up… which is on top of the wiring that’s in place. So – with the OSB hung, we were able to get a lot of the shop looking “settled” on Sunday. I still have a ton of work to do in there – but it’s starting to look more and more like a work shop and less and less like a dumping ground.
We also go a fair amount of rain Friday – which was good – since I have been waiting for about 2 weeks since turning over the garden plot for the rain to fall and germinate a bunch of weed seed before I knock all that under with the disks. Looks like that will be a project for alter this week – and then the winter rye will go down.
All rooms were filled this weekend – we ate well – laughed a lot – good times.
